Each week I draw a medicine card to set the tone for the week ahead and practice leading with the intuitive side of my brain. It makes for a fantastic companion to the more left-brain planning I also do each week.
Raccoon medicine is the medicine of the Generous Protector and reminds us that benevolence and generosity always come around full circle to the giver.
A troop of raccoons usually leaves a watcher behind when raiding a campsite or forest cabin. The guard is always fed the best bits by the raiders to honor his vigilance and protection. This shows us the value of tending to the needs of the tribe before taking anything for ourselves. When generosity is the driving force behind economics, the whole system benefits.
When the little bandit shows up in our cards, we're asked to look around and see who needs our strength at this time. Is it time to speak up in defense of another or share your bounty of time, talent, or treasure?
Maybe it's time to help those in need develop their own protector and provider skills.
Raccoon medicine people have an uncanny ability to assist others without allowing them to become victims or dependents.
Leaders earn their Eagle feathers when they promote every human's right to self-dignity and self-expression.
