Each week I draw a medicine card to set the tone for the week ahead and practice leading with the intuitive side of my brain. It makes for a fantastic companion to the more left-brain planning I also do each week.
Don't tell the other medicine cards, but Eagle is my favorite medicine. Eagle medicine is the power of Great Spirit, and represents our connection to the divine through their ability to soar up into the realm of Spirit. From that viewpoint, we can see the pattern of life and the overall connection to others. We are not isolated entities, but cells of a universal whole.
When Eagle flies into our life, we are reminded to take heart and gather our courage, for the universe is presenting us with an opportunity to rise above the mediocre and mundane.
In seeing the bigger picture of our life, Eagle teaches us to broaden our sense of self beyond the horizon of what is presently visible. As we soar toward that edge and the boundary of the unknown, we can recognize the places within ourselves that need to deepen the connection to Spirit.
Eagle also reminds us that the trials we experience in life can be a form of spiritual test. Eagle medicine comes through experiencing the highs and lows of life, and trusting one's connection to heaven. After all, taking flight requires the conquering of fear and a willingness to co-create with the Divine. By learning to fiercely attack our personal fear of the unknown, we can soar upon the ever-present breezes of Spirit and be supported by that Grace.
Last week, Lizard medicine asked us to spend more time in the dream of our life.
Eagle teaches us to look higher and farther and see not only the light and dark parts of ourselves but all of the pieces that make up the great tapestry of life. Matter follows vision and spirit. As we connect with both, we take flight like an eagle.
Eagle medicine is the freedom of the skies that comes from following your heart's desire. Have great faith in that desire and great power becomes available.
